Fire Safe Façade Consulting Ltd was founded by Mohammad Irfan in the year 2017 with the vision of providing independent, practical, and technically robust fire engineering and façade consultancy services across the UK and mainland Europe.

Mohammad Irfan serves as the Founder and Director of Fire Safe Façade Consulting Ltd. With over 12 years of experience in the built environment, he specialises in the fire safety of façade and cladding systems, external wall compliance, and wider fire engineering consultancy work.

To offer some background to our company director - following the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mohammad began his career with a specialist supplier of external wall systems, where he developed a comprehensive understanding of the materials and components used in modern façade construction. This included external wall materials such as insulation products, sheathing boards, cavity fire barriers, rainscreen cladding systems, and associated façade components used on complex high-rise developments.

Mohammad further developed his expertise by undertaking a two-year assessed postgraduate programme in Fire and Explosion Engineering at the University of Leeds. This advanced training, combined with over 12 years of industry experience, has provided him with a strong technical foundation in fire dynamics, façade fire safety, and performance-based fire engineering.

Building on this technical foundation, Mohammad moved into fire engineering consultancy, where he became heavily involved in preparing fire strategy reports, undertaking façade compliance reviews, and providing technical advice in accordance with recognised legislation, British Standards, Approved Documents, PAS guidance, and industry best practice. This practical understanding of both façade construction and fire engineering enables him to provide balanced, proportionate, and technically robust advice throughout every stage of a project's lifecycle.

Mohammad has extensive expertise in the inspecting, as well as assessment of external wall systems and fire safety compliance, with experience spanning both small-scale independent product testing and large-scale BS 8414 façade system fire tests. His technical knowledge covers every stage of external wall fire safety, from initial desktop reviews and intrusive site inspections through to remediation design reviews, construction monitoring, and final completion documentations.

His experience includes undertaking detailed internal and external wall inspections, preparing Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs) in accordance with PAS 9980, reviewing complex external wall systems against current Building Regulations, fire safety legislation, statutory guidance, and recognised industry standards, as well as carrying out fire stopping inspections, compartmentation surveys, fire door assessments, and risk-based technical reviews of external wall remediation schemes.

In addition to his consultancy work, Mohammad is actively involved in the development and delivery of specialist training on façade fire safety. He has designed and delivered technical training courses for a range of industry professionals and organisations, including programmes for the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) and various Fire and Rescue Services. His training combines technical expertise with practical industry experience, helping fire safety professionals, building owners, and construction teams better understand external wall systems, façade fire risks, current legislation, and best practice for achieving compliance.
